Do All to the Glory of God

“So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” — 1 Corinthians 10:31 (ESV)

As disciples of Christ, our ultimate goal is to give glory to God.

What Does It Mean to Give Glory to God?

Glorifying God means honoring, recognizing, and declaring who He is in His power, His omniscience, and His perfect nature. We give God glory when we praise Him for His character, trust Him with what He does, obey what He commands, and reflect His nature in the way we live.

In other words, giving glory means living every part of our lives in a way that says:

“God, I surrender my choices, thoughts, work, relationships, habits, meals, and my entire life into Your hands. May everything I am and all that I do point to You, not to me.”

Even the most ordinary things — eating, drinking, walking, or resting — become acts of worship when we do them with gratitude, purpose, and an awareness of His presence.

Glorifying God in All Things

Paul’s words in 1 Corinthians remind us that in everything we do, our aim should be to glorify God. It’s not just in church, or in prayer — it’s in every action, thought, and choice.

Paul calls us to recognize the goodness of God in every circumstance. Even in seasons that feel heavy, stressful, or overwhelming, we can pause and think: What is God doing here? Because He is always at work for our good.

We should live this way because God is perfect. He does no wrong; everything He does is good. When we trust His character and obey His commands, we glorify Him and we walk in what is truly good for us. As believers, we live with this purpose in mind: for the glory of God and the good of man.

Practical Health Coaching Applications

Living out 1 Corinthians 10:31 is connected to how we care for our bodies. Here are a few simple ways to align health practices with giving God glory:

  1. Bring peace to mealtimes through prayer. Taking a moment to pray before eating honors God and helps shift your body into a calm, “rest and digest” state. A relaxed nervous system supports better digestion and absorption of nutrients.

  2. Honor God with whole foods from His creation. The foods God designed — fruits, vegetables, high-quality pastured proteins, raw dairy, fermented grains, nuts, and seeds — are what nourish us best. Filling your plate with His creation honors both God and the body He created.

  3. Take walks in creation as worship. A short walk after dinner is both spiritually and physically beneficial. Reflecting on God’s goodness while walking in His creation can be an act of worship. Physiologically, an evening walk supports digestion, helps balance blood sugar, and — if done at sunset — aligns your circadian rhythm. Exposure to natural evening light cues your body to produce melatonin, preparing you for deeper, more restful sleep.

Reflection Questions

  • Where in your life are you already honoring God through your daily habits?

  • What areas could you surrender more fully to Him?

  • How can you invite God’s presence into the “ordinary” — meals, movement, rest — as an act of worship?

Whether we eat, drink, move, or rest, every moment can be an opportunity to glorify God. Our health, our habits, and our hearts all point back to Him — the One who made us, sustains us, and loves us perfectly.

Acknowledge the power of Jesus, speak your love for Him openly, and strive to honor God in every part of your life.
