The Gospel
This past week I found myself reflecting on what it means to be saved, and I realized that before this year my understanding of the gospel was so limited maybe even nonexistent. Writing this is both a personal reflection and an encouragement for anyone who is new to faith or simply curious about what the gospel truly is.
My blog posts lean more toward Bible study, because even in my health coaching I’ve seen that the truths of Scripture and God’s design are at the core of everything that truly matters.
What Is the Gospel?
The gospel is simple yet profound: if we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, we are made righteous in God’s eyes and promised eternal life in His kingdom. We are sinners, and God, being holy, cannot overlook sin. With great love for us, the Father sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, as the sacrifice for our sin.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” — John 3:16
Instead of us facing God’s wrath against sin, Jesus faced it on our behalf. He endured a brutal death on the cross so we could live forever in heaven.
“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” — Romans 5:8
It took me 24 years to realize the perfect gift of salvation. Some days I still wrestle with how generous our God is but while my human mind struggles to comprehend, the gospel doesn’t get any less true.
The Story of Jesus
To understand the gospel, we first look at who Jesus is and what He did for us. Jesus was born of the virgin Mary, He lived a sinless life, was crucified, buried, and rose again three days later. He ascended into heaven, where He sits at the right hand of the Father and lives forever as our advocate.
Faith in Jesus means trusting His promises, accepting that we are forgiven, and believing that He lived and died because of His love for us.
Jesus, God’s Promise Fulfilled
The Old Testament points forward to Jesus, showing God’s promise of salvation despite humanity’s continued sin. The New Testament fulfills that promise when Jesus—fully God and fully man—stepped into the world to die for us out of His vast love.
“For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.” — 1 Corinthians 15:3–4
Here in 1 Corinthians, we see that Scripture was fulfilled. What was foretold in the Old Testament came true in Jesus! He fulfilled God’s promise, which stands as powerful evidence of the truth of the Bible.

Why This Is So Profound
Every one of us has made mistakes. We know it by the guilt we feel when we act outside of God’s design. Guilt is not meant to crush us but to point us back to Him. The natural response is repentance — confessing sin, turning away from it, and turning toward God.
Remember the times you’ve wanted to be forgiven, maybe even by yourself. In Christ, we find true forgiveness when we’re honest with Him, admit our mistakes, and accept His love and grace.
The Promise of the Gospel
The gospel assures us that we are deeply loved, fully forgiven, and never too far gone to receive His grace. When we believe in what Jesus has done—that He died for us, bore God’s wrath, and made us new—we are saved and promised eternal life with Him in heaven.
Accept Jesus as Lord, and eternity in heaven is promised.
What about today? Jesus is for God’s glory and for our good. Even now, we bear fruit through the Holy Spirit—the One who protects us from evil and grows in us peace, joy, love, kindness, courage, and strength.
The gospel is the promise of love for eternity and for today if we believe in Jesus.
The Gospel and Health
You may wonder how this connects with my work as a health coach. The truth is that God is in charge. He is all-knowing, all-powerful, all-loving and He is the ultimate healer.
If you want to improve your health, start with your faith. Healing begins with Him. It is by His design that we live, and it is by His design that we are restored.
It is never too late to follow Jesus. Through Him, our hearts are opened, and we find love and courage to walk in the life God has designed for us.
