Eat by the Bible

One of the most impactful books I’ve read recently is The Biblio Diet by Jordan Rubin and Dr. Josh Axe. It’s about living in God’s design, honoring Him with our bodies, and rediscovering the wisdom He’s woven into creation from the very beginning.

The Biblio Diet answers the question: What does the Bible actually say about health and nutrition? The Bible is the ultimate source of wisdom for every part of life. It offers principles that can transform how we think, how we live, and even how we eat.

God’s Wisdom from the Beginning

God’s design for nourishment begins in Genesis. He commanded Adam and Eve to eat from the plants, fruits, and seeds of the earth (Genesis 1:29). After the flood, He expanded that provision, telling Noah that meat was also given for food (Genesis 9:3). From the beginning, God has cared about what we eat and has shared His wisdom with us.

Here are a few of the key principles The Biblio Diet explores:

  • Choosing meat from clean animals like cattle, bison, and venison, rather than scavengers

  • Enjoying ancient grains such as einkorn or spelt in naturally fermented sourdough breads

  • Using raw dairy from A2 animals including goat, sheep, water buffalo, or A2 cows

  • Eating local, seasonal fruits and vegetables

  • Using raw honey and dates for natural sweetness (symbolic of God’s blessing and abundance)

  • Including foods mentioned in Scripture such as olive oil, figs, pomegranate, dates, milk, and honey

  • Drinking wine in small amounts and with purpose in communion or celebration

Every bite is an opportunity to honor the Creator. We are children of God, born in and from His creation. When we nourish ourselves with the foods He designed for us, we bring Him glory.

Scripture Inspired Groceries

My grocery cart this week and why:

  • Papaya – filled with papain, a natural digestive enzyme that supports the breakdown of proteins and promotes gentle, effective digestion

  • Olives – rich in polyphenols and monounsaturated fats that support heart health, reduce inflammation, and nourish the skin

  • Coconut oil – a source of medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) that provide steady energy and support brain health

  • Avocado – rich in healthy fats, B vitamins, potassium, and magnesium that help support adrenal function, hormone balance, and overall reproductive health

  • Figs – biblically mentioned and full of fiber, antioxidants, and minerals that help support digestion and energy

  • Pomegranate – antioxidant-rich and symbolic of God’s abundance and fruitfulness

  • Herbal tinctures – dong quai to support female hormone balance, ashwagandha for calm and stress relief, chaste tree berry for cycle health, milk thistle for gentle liver support, and rhodiola for overall energy and resilience

These foods and herbs complement the staples: pasture-raised beef, venison, or chicken; raw goat’s milk dairy; grass-fed A2 or coconut yogurt; raw honey; walnuts and pistachios; and plenty of vegetables like carrots and cucumbers.

These choices are about seeing food as part of God’s design and choosing what brings life and health to the body He created.

Living God’s Wisdom Daily

The Biblio Diet has changed the way I read Scripture. I now open my Bible with fresh eyes, looking for the practical wisdom God offers for daily life. I revisited Exodus 20, the Ten Commandments, as a reminder that honoring God is not a one-time decision but a daily practice of obedience and love.

Even though we live under the new covenant and are saved by the blood of Jesus, God's wisdom has not disappeared. Honoring His design is not about earning His love; it is about aligning our lives with His goodness and experiencing the freedom He created us for.

Live in God’s Design

God cares deeply about your health. He designed your body with intention and filled the earth with nourishing foods for your good. Scripture reminds us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. How will you honor that temple today? Let’s choose to glorify God in even the smallest choices, one meal at a time.

“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.” — 1 Corinthians 6:19–20 (ESV)

I would love to support you in your journey.
